“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV.
The way our society is designed we have been conditioned to worry more about what people think about us and how people view us. Most times we don’t even really think about how we view ourselves, much less how God views us. We are too busy trying to look good for other people. You don’t believe me, look at your social media feed. Most people want you to believe that they are living this beautiful life or “living the dream” as they say, when in fact their life is nothing short of a nightmare. In this busy life we have created, when do we have time for God or when do we stop to think about what God thinks about us. Some people say after all, “I can’t see God” but they see the people they try to impress daily. This ought not to be so.
If we pause for a moment and think about the time we invest in worrying or considering what other people think, we would have a little bit more time for God. Truth be told some of the people we try to impress daily don’t even care about us. Also, think about the harm this does, some people drive themselves into depression about this. Some people develop low self-esteem because of this and the list goes on. God is the only one we should try to impress and the good thing I found out about impressing God, I don’t have to be fake because he knows who I am. I don’t have to lie to him because he knows the truth about everything concerning me. Instead of putting up a facade to impress other people, be self-confident about who you are. According to the Psalmist in Psalm 139:14 NKJV, we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” by God. Settle this in your mind, people are going to have an opinion about you one way or the other and it’s either going to be good or bad but that should never stop you from becoming the person that God has destined you to be. Most times the bad opinions are people’s’ shallow understanding of the amazing person that you really are and those should not even be given a second thought.
The thoughts that God has towards you are good thoughts according to the book of Jeremiah, he wants to give you a future regardless of what you think of yourself. He is the ultimate judge, yet his compassion is unmatched. He forgives and forgets immediately and never brings up your transgressions again. All he wants you to do is repent and believe in his son Jesus Christ. Then, he will show you that beautiful future he has in store for you but even better, he will be with you and guide you every step of the way there and beyond. These are Julien’s thoughts and what’s on his mind.
