Thought For The Day- Can You Get Close

Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 NKJV.

The above passage is from one of my favorite books in the new testament. The book of James has only five chapters but it contains almost everything you need to jump start a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This book gave me a lot of insight and helped me though some hard times. I still read it till this day to self examine my relationship with God through Jesus.

I have sometimes heard people say that they do not know how to get close to God or whether they can even get close to God. The passage above clearly tells us that we can get close to God and the truth is that God wants to get close to us, it is for this reason that Jesus died for us. However, he is never forceful because after all, he did give us the freedom of choice. I will cover choice and free will in an upcoming video on the YouTube channel. You have to take the first step to get closer to God and he will take a step closer to you. I hear you asking; “Julien, how do I get close to God?” Am glad you asked, the bible says God is his word, the first step to getting closer to God is to stay in his word on a daily basis. In addition, don’t just be hearers of his word be doers also (James 1:22 NKJV). The closer you get to God the desire to sin against him reduces and your thoughts on a lot of things change and the closer you get to him, the more he reveals himself to you.

Start today with the book of James, meditate on each verse of the five chapters and then start with the four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. God is waiting on you to get closer to him and he is more than ready to receive you but you have to make the first move towards him. May God bless you as you get closer to him and may he reveal his awesomeness to you and grant you wisdom as you do so in Jesus name. These are Julien’s thoughts and what’s on his mind.
