From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt 4:17 NKJV
We have all heard the word “Gospel” but what does it really mean and how do we apply it to our everyday life. Most people, yes, even preachers have interpreted this word to mean “good news” am not saying that the gospel is not good news but these days everyone seems to have a different interpretation of what that “good news” is. According to Google, the definition of the gospel is one; the teaching or revelation of Christ (Jesus) and two; the record of Jesus’ life and teaching in the first four books of the New Testament. The “Gospel” is the teaching of Jesus Christ and the good news is that Jesus Christ came to die for our sins to reconcile us back to God.
Now that we know what the Gospel means, the billion dollar question is this, is everyone who say they believe in Jesus really teaching the same teachings that he taught? Have they altered it to make it fit certain parameters? The only solution I can give to you is that you read and study the first four books of the New Testament carefully, ask God to give you wisdom and understanding and then, decide for yourself. Brothers and sisters, the message that Jesus Christ came to bring has not changed, “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Anyone who preaches the Gospel without talking about repentance may have misunderstood what Jesus came to do. Every teaching that he taught comes after repentance, the teachings are the way you should live your life after repentance.
Repentance is to turn from a life of sin and evil and turn to God. It does not stop here but it’s the first step, once you have repented, accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior and live your life according to his teachings. Repent today, the truth is you may not have another chance, it’s not God’s will that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance, II Peter 3:10 NKJV. May God bless you all and continue to reveal himself to you through my Lord and savior Christ Jesus and I pray that he covers you, your family, friends and loved ones as well in Jesus name. Amen.
